BLACK

LIGHT

KING

A kingdom built on dark mystique and a reputation for his outrageous opinions, Black Light King is known for using his limitless talents for speaking his mind. Being raised in LA by parents who feared gang activities, Black Light King often found himself locked away with a variety of books. These influential years bred an infatuation with studying and applying newfound ideas to his life and techniques to his art. Combining his book obsession with his adoration for art, Black Light King distinguished himself by using his works as his voice to speak against the political incompetence that he witnessed daily through his eyes as the son of immigrants. One of his key works featured in the DogTown Collection is ‘I am not an alien!’, a depiction of George Washington with a third eye protruding from his forehead.

Countless artists have attempted to use their creations to speak on behalf of their personal beliefs, but Black Light King’s unusual approach has branded into a new development of urban art- black light art. The king himself began using colors and variations of paint that would radiate under the sensation of black lights, hence the name Black Light King. Aside from his controversial standings, Black Light King is also known for his portrayals of psychological depths, gods in demand of worship, and of feminine beauties, even breaking into painting women’s physical bodies in recent years.
