Steamer Glide Stout™Diamond Knot's "Steamer Glide Stout"
™ is an Irish style stout made popular by Guinness and
Beamish. Our traditional style stout is rich in
roasted malt flavor, with that great creamy, nitrogen poured
head. It is brewed in the traditional stout methods
with "true-to-style" ingredients.
Comparison:The Stout features:
Many Northwest stouts, such as Grant's Imperial Stout, are big
beers with a high gravity reaching a barleywine like characteristic. Other
stouts use oatmeal, such as Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout, as an ingredient
to replace Flaked Barley, an adjunct for achieving good head retention.
There are some who argue whether the oatmeal actually adds a significant
flavor profile, or is just a gimmick.
Why is it called Steamer Glide:Diamond Knot's Steamer Glide Stout ™ is a traditional Irish Style Stout that is produced with the sole intention of being dispensed using a nitrogen creamer head for that rich head and dark roasted flavor. Why not! Diamond Knot Brewery is named after a freighter
that sank off the coast of Port Angeles back in 1948. Since
Diamond Knot Brewery is located in Mukilteo, we thought we should name
a beer after a vessel that's a little closer. A Steamer Ship
named "Glide" is reported to be at the bottom of Possession Sound between
Mukilteo and Clinton, Washington. It was reported sunk back
in the year 1902. I'm sure the crew wishes they were on shore
asking for a pint of that Stout, now known as Steamer Glide.
Cost Comparison: Steamer Glide ™ is $.0449 per oz. Guinness is $.0651 per oz. Steamer Glide ™ is local and fresh!
